Happy Holidays!

Sunday, December 23, 2007

It's been a looooong time since my very last post. So to sum up what had happened in the last months... Basically, I...

1. finished all Smallville seasons (1-7) in the midst of my thesis-writing.

2. successfully submitted the draft of my thesis on the dot.

3. managed to live a life of one sad hermit.

4. was able to sustain a near-perfect vegetarian diet! kudos to this!

5. quit being president of the Association of Filipino Students in Japan.

6. was able to continue my role as web admin of Nabua Forum despite other minor responsibilities.

7. decided to quit my Monbusho scholarship and prepare myself for other (possibly better) possibilities.

8. finally joined (and enjoyed) a Bounenkai (year-end party) with the Anthropology Dept people after three long years of being in it.

9. ...at last, have nice and interesting Japanese friends after three years of existence in Japan, and of living in an almost "Japanese-free" social environment.

10. taking my chances of being independent (and penniless) in Manila.

11. decided to go back to my first love: film.

12. left for New York for the holidays.

13. am feeling quite sad to bid farewell to Japan which I already consider my third home, after Nabua and Quezon City, Philippines.

14. am still not very confident about my recent life-changing decisions but feeling quite brave to take the next steps as challenges which I need to face (and as fears which I have to conquer).

15. ...finally, have to try more to adjust my body clock to NY time.

Oh, New York... They say this city never sleeps. I might currently be the sleepiest and laziest person in this whole block where only very busy people seem to live. Wake up, DD.

Anyway, here's a photo of one of Manhattan's really crowded streets. The roads have been blocked by the NYPD in preparation for the New Year's countdown at Times Square. I was indeed lucky to catch the street empty.

Happy New Year, everyone. My New Year's resolutions to follow.
